Grand Columbia Council           Boy Scouts of America

Polar Bear Camporee 2017

Attention Okanogan Valley District Scouters!

Mark your calendars for the Polar Bear Camporee Feb 3rd, 4th, and 5th at Summit Lake.

The Order of the Arrow, Sanpoil Chapter, of the Tataliya Lodge will be assisting with the program. Be assured we will have a fun filled weekend to test your scout and camping skills.

The Polar Bear Award will be presented to the best Troop overall. Patrols will be judged on the basis of Scout Spirit, Cooking (including the **no pot cooking), Campsite, and activities. Come prepared to impress the rest of the camp.

The Snowball Award will be presented for the best skit at Saturday Night's Campfire. Start planning something original for this now.

There will be 5 challenge stations: Side Hill Maneuver, First Aid, Fire Building, Ice Rescue, and Knot Gauntlet. **No pot cooking challenge: 2 judges will visit during your dinner on Saturday. Please be prepared to show cooking process, presentation, and taste test. This challenge does not have to be the meal for the troop. It is part of the Polar Bear Award point system.

The cost for this event will be $15.00 per person which includes patch, Friday night cracker barrel, Saturday night cracker barrel and ongoing hot chocolate and coffee.  Troops will need to provide their own meals, hot drinks etc. at their camp.

Webelos with an adult may join us for Saturday events. There will be a $5.00 charge to include patch, hot chocolate and coffee.

All participants must pre-register so adequate food can be purchased. Registration forms must be received in the Council office by Feb 2, 2017. A $5.00 per person late fee will be charged after that date. No refunds will be given, but transfers within a troop are acceptable. You must bring your properly completed tour permits to this event.

Units need to bring their own water and fire wood. It would be advisable to bring axes and/or splitting mauls for wood splitting. Bring shovels for site and shelter preparations. It is essential troops and scouts bring adequate clothing and snow gear along with any other equipment needed for outdoor winter camping.
