To provide the safest possible environment for Scouts and Scouting Volunteers, the Boy Scouts of America requires Youth Protection Training for all adults registered with the Boy Scouts of America. Youth Protection Training needs to be renewed every two years.

MyScouting.org is a website for Scouting parents and volunteers to receive the most current information and training from the Boy Scouts of America. The following instructions are how to set up an account on MyScouting.org and take Youth Protection Training:

1. Get your BSA Membership ID number off of the charter renewal form or by calling the Yakima or Wenatchee Scout Office.

2. To take the training on-line you will need to use a computer with internet access, that also has speakers and a printer. Log onto MyScouting.org

3. Click on the button that says Create an account, (if you don’t already have one).

4. Create an account and enter a user name and password, (write down your user name to log-on to MyScouting.org for future use in training).

5. On the next page click I know my member ID and fill out your name, address, etc. follow through.

6. The council’s name and number is the Grand Columbia Council #614.

7. If you already have an account and are having problems logging on, you can call the National Help Desk at 972-580-2267. Call before 2 pm, they are in Texas.

8. Once you have created an account you will be on your own MyScouting homepage.

9. On the left side is a link that says Training and below that a link, E-Learning. Click on the E-Learning link.

10. Under the General tab is Youth Protection Training, to the right it says Take Course or Retake Course. Click on Take Course. If the choices are Retake Course or Review Course, click on Retake Course. Do not click on Review Course, it will not update your training.

11. The video will begin. It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete the course. Watch the presentation and complete the test. When the course is complete you will be able to print off a Youth Protection Card and Training Certificate.

12. Print the Youth Protection Training Card.

13. Attach a copy of the card to your completed Adult Application to turn in to the Scout Service Center.

When you are registered with the Boy Scouts of America, you will get a membership ID number which will be printed on your membership card or can be obtained by calling the Scout Office. With the membership ID number you can go back and update your profile in your MyScouting account and any additional training you take online will be immediately reported to the Council upon completion.
